The first glimpse of the mysterious creatures known as Marauders
Marauder Logo

Marauders are mysterious creatures in Red Faction: Guerrilla that in some way relate to the original Red Faction and live in The Badlands, a hostile environment. Marauders are the original inhabitants of Mars.

Description

These barbaric anarchists are known as friends to no one; they're just as hostile to EDF troops as they are to the Red Faction freedom fighters. Wielding big, tridentlike melee weapons, these guys don't opt for using cover and tactics; they're all about offense, aggressively rushing you and attacking until you manage to bring them down.

It is theorized (but not confirmed) that these creatures are related in some way to Capek's Mutants from the original Red Faction. Other theories include that they are related to survivors from the Ultor mines, or survivors from a lost colony known as Revelation III. [1]

Plot Role

It's unclear how this third faction fits into the overall plot of Red Faction: Guerrilla at this point, though we do know that at some point, Alec Mason will find himself temporarily allied with the group to achieve an objective.

Design

The Marauders have been described as having a design that echoes the Sand People from Star Wars and Mad Max 2. They may also have the same behaveral design as reavers from the firefly series.
