The Badlands is a sector located between Dust and Oasis. This sector is the third to be liberated in the story.
Background
From the Guerrilla Handbook:
“ The Badlands are a wasteland of harsh terrain and scrap. For whatever reason, the EDF set up their largest outpost here. Most people think they're looking for something out there... add the high concentration of Marauder activity and the sector is an extremely hostile area. „ |
The Badlands are home to the Marauders, descendants of Ultor Scientists from the first Red Faction who appear in large numbers at night. Ruins of Ultor buildings and mines can be found in the sector.
The reason the EDF is so intent on controlling this area is because of the Nano Forge, a powerful piece of Ultor technology that has the ability to create a near infinite supply of nanites, thus tempting the EDF to weaponize it.
