Old Coot

The Old Coot was an unidentified man who lived in The Badlands during the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla. It is heavily implied that he is Parker, a revolutionary hero who aided in the destruction of the Ultor Corporation fifty years ago. If the old man is Parker, then he would've been about seventy years old when found by Alec Mason.^[1]

The Old Coot is usually found sitting down in a chair outside of his house, though he can be sometimes found walking around in the immediate vicinity, and along the ridges of the Mohole's eponymous pit. The man is invincible and cannot be killed by normal means (gunfire, explosions, melee, etc.). However, you can kill him by somehow knocking him into the giant pit.

He has some Singularity Bombs in his house - always useful for destruction.

The Old Coot makes numerous references to the original Red Faction. Some of these references are listed below:

• "I miss 'em all... Yes, I do... Eos, Hendrix, Orion... Hell, even Gryphon. They're all gone now... I'm all that's left. Me, and my memories."
• "Ultor's behind the plague. And it's all Capek's fault! He's the head of Ultor's science and medical labs on Mars. They've been runnin' some experiments."
• "Parker! Clean up this area! Parker! Send the launch signal! Hurry Parker, run Parker, PARKER, PARKER, PARKER!!"
• "Eos had that thing on her face. Every time I looked at her, I thought, 'What the hell does she got under there?' Maybe it was wires? Or warts?"
• "Fifty years, I've been sittin' in this chair, and I'll be sittin' here for fifty more! I'm gonna bury the whole stinkin' lot o' ya!"
• "'Crazy Parker', they called me, 'crazy Parker'. I ain't so crazy. I just get a little excited, that's all."
