Hale's Gambit

    • Hale's Gambit is a mission in Red Faction: Armageddon. It is included in the Path to War DLC pack.

    Summary

    Hale sends his right hand man Mallus to take down the Terraformer defenses whilst piloting an Inferno GX, where Red Faction and Marauder troops are actively defending the area. It takes place approximately 10 hours before the Terraformer failure.

    Objectives

    Below are the objectives that players complete as they progress the level:

    • Leave no survivors
    • Advance through the canyon
    • Eliminate the scouts
    • Destroy the marauder outpost
    • Slip through the secluded pass
    • Return to the surface canyons
    • Silence the distress transmission
    • Destroy the red faction generator
    • Infiltrate the inner defenses
    • Approach the defense core
    • Shoot the core
    • Escape the meltdown

    Introduction

    Hale A generation ago I watched as these colonist scum stole everything from me. My people, my purpose. They left me broken. Left me to die in the desert, alone and forgotten. But that is the past. Today our glorious future begins. You, Mallus--my right hand--shall help me destroy the terraformer and bring Mars to her knees. Our future is at hand. Do not fail me.

    Dialogue

    Hale Level the outpost, Mallus. Leave them with no means of following you
    Mallus Yes Sir.
    Sir, the Marauders' defenses are active. Shield barriers are up.
    Hale We shall deal with that on our end. Focus on the soldiers.
    Leave no survivors.
    Eliminated enemies within outpost
    Mallus Outpost eliminated.
    Hale Shields will be down momentarily.
    Canyon reached
    Hale Follow the surface canyons. They will lead you to the Terraformer's defensive generators.
    The defense grid must be lowered before we can continue.
    Scout Towers reached
    Mallus Sir, radar is showing a number of Red Faction troops in the area.
    Hale Stay low, take them by surprise.
    Outpost reached
    Mallus Approaching the Red Faction outpost.
    Hale Wipe them out.
    Secluded pass reached
    Hale There is an underground passage at the back of the outpost. Find it.
    Within the surface canyon
    Hale Stay below the canyon walls. The patrols will have a harder time targeting you.,
    Beware the turrets. The ship won't survive a barrage of direct hits.
    Distress transmission reached
    Mallus Intercepting a distress call from the Terraformer...
    Hale They know you're coming. Get to the comm towers and destroy them. The transmission must be silenced.
    All transmission towers destroyed
    Hale All towers eliminated. Distress call silenced.
    Now target the blast door generator.
    It should be in the center of the complex.
    Approaching the defense core
    Hale Eliminate any resistance you find. It will make your exit easier.

    Once the core is damaged, you'll have a small window of time before the reactor explodes.

    Escaping the meltdown
    Hale This is Adam Hale. The terraformer's defenses are down. Storm the facility. Leave no survivors.
    The Red Faction will mobilize their troops... Let them come.
    Their efforts are in vain.
    The plan has been set in motion.
    And I promise you... we will wield a power that has not been seen for centuries.
    A power that will crush our enemies... and return Mars to its rightful owners.
    Our future is at hand, my children. We are victorious.
