Introduction
Plot
Red Faction takes place on Mars in the late 21st century, more specifically around the year 2075. Earth’s minerals are being depleted and humans need more of them to survive. The vast Ultor Corporation runs the Noachite mining operation on Mars. The living conditions are deplorable, human rights for the miners are few, and a disease called the Plague is running rampant throughout the colony, predominantly within the confines of the mine complex, with no known antidote available. You play the role of Parker, a downtrodden miner taken in by the promises and advantages Ultor has to offer in the mines of Mars. After a routine day in the mine with the typical aggression toward miners and cramped living conditions and poor nutrition, he witnesses the spark that starts a rebellion. When a security guard abuses a miner at the end of his shift he heartlessly kills him. Parker takes up arms, with the help of Hendrix, a rebellious Ultor technician who guides Parker through the complex. Hendrix tries to get Parker to join up with a group of miners who are about to steal a supply ship and escape the complex. Parker arrives too late. The ship takes off but is destroyed by missiles.
Red Faction is set in a dystopian future on Mars and revolves around a rebellion against the Ultor Corporation. The game unfolds in the year 2075, in a time when Earth's natural resources are depleted, and humans turn to the mining operations on Mars to meet their needs. The vast Ultor Corporation controls noachite mining operations on Mars, where miners are subjected to deplorable living conditions, few human rights, and a mysterious disease known as "The Plague" with no known cure.

Parker traverses through the Ultor complex, eliminating any resistance Ultor throws at him, and even kidnapping a high-ranking Ultor administrator, Gryphon, for Eos, leader of the Red Faction. Parker learns from Gryphon about Dr. Capek, who created the Plague. Capek has been experimenting with nanotechnology, and the Plague is a side-effect. Hendrix directs Parker to Capek's secret underground laboratory, where he and Eos meet up and take down Capek. Before Capek dies, he tells Eos how to cure "The Plague". After sending a distress call to the Earth Defense Force, Parker stows away on a shuttle to an Ultor space station in Martian orbit to deactivate a laser defense system.
The protagonist of the game is Parker, a miner who came to Mars seeking a new start, lured by the promises and advantages Ultor claimed to offer in the mines of Mars. However, the reality he encounters is far from the promised ideal. Miners endure aggressive treatment, cramped living conditions, and poor nutrition. The game begins with Parker witnessing a security guard abusing a miner at the end of his shift. The miner fights back, killing the security guard, which ignites the rebellion.

After destroying the space station, Parker lands back on Mars via an escape pod, Ultor brings out its reserve of mercenaries to help them in their fight against the miners. Hendrix tells Parker that the mercenaries have orders to destroy the mining complex, covering up any proof of Ultor's wrongdoing. After fighting his way through the mercenary base, Parker confronts Masako, the mercenary leader. After killing Masako, Parker sees that Eos is tied up and sitting on the floor next to the bomb, which has been set to explode. After deactivating it, the Earth Defense Force arrives just in time to save Parker and Eos from an Aesir. Eos tells Parker that an antidote for the Plague has been made and it is being given to any sick miners. She also tells him she is leaving Mars, and that he should enjoy his new status as a hero.
Parker becomes involved with the Red Faction, a group of miners led by Eos, rebelling against Ultor's tyranny. He is guided by Hendrix, a rebellious Ultor security technician, who helps him navigate through the complex series of mines and facilities. The game's narrative takes Parker through various stages of the uprising, from encountering resistance from Ultor forces to the kidnapping of Ultor deputy administrator Gryphon for the Red Faction.

Description
The rebellion escalates with Parker and the Red Faction's encounters with Dr. Axel Capek, creator of The Plague. Capek had been experimenting with nanotechnology, and The Plague was a side-effect of injections given to miners during their annual medical checkups. In a climactic confrontation, Capek is defeated, but he dies without revealing the cure for The Plague.
Volition Inc., the creators of the FreeSpace and Descent series, developed Red Faction, a game for PlayStation® 2, PC, and Macintosh. Framed by impressive features including an astonishing physics engine, controllable vehicles, intense graphics, kick-ass weapons, unique natural environments and a hugely involving storyline, Red Faction is a must-have title for serious gamers.

Story
The game culminates with Parker sending a distress call to the Earth Defense Force and destroying Ultor's missile defense system. This allows him to stow away on a shuttle to an Ultor space station in Martian orbit to deactivate a laser defense system. Upon his return to Mars, Parker confronts Masako, the leader of the mercenaries working for Ultor, and ultimately defeats her.
As all Volition Inc. games do, Red Faction contains a hugely immersive storyline that will contribute highly to the game play. You are a miner named Parker, toiling in the mines on Mars for a deceiving company known as Ultor. The conditions are worsening day by day, and there is talk of a rebellion. All the miners are suffering from a strange, deadly disease called the Plague that is suddenly sweeping through their ranks. The miners' anger and resentment are ready to boil over, and the player provides the spark that starts a rebellion against Ultor. The player's goal is to stay alive long enough to bring down Ultor and solve the mystery of the Plague. This journey takes him from gritty subterranean mines to Ultor's pristine science and nanotech labs to the surface of Mars and even onto satellites orbiting high above the planet.

Geo-Mod
The arrival of the EDF signifies a turning point in the game, and by extension, the series. The EDF broadcasts that they have taken control of Mars and instructs all armed personnel to drop their weapons, threatening to shoot those who resist.
Red Faction is the first and only series to feature Geomod technology, which allows the player to dynamically alter the 3D environment in real-time; i.e.: a rocket blowing a hole in a wall.

Red Faction is a 2001 video game developed by Volition and published by THQ. The first game in the series, Red Faction and its associated promotional material established much of the characters, locations, and story elements that would later become evergreen to the series.

    Plot

Red Faction is set in a dystopian future on Mars and revolves around a rebellion against the Ultor Corporation. The game unfolds in the year 2075, in a time when Earth's natural resources are depleted, and humans turn to the mining operations on Mars to meet their needs. The vast Ultor Corporation controls noachite mining operations on Mars, where miners are subjected to deplorable living conditions, few human rights, and a mysterious disease known as "The Plague" with no known cure.

The arrival of the EDF signifies a turning point in the game, and by extension, the series. The EDF broadcasts that they have taken control of Mars and instructs all armed personnel to drop their weapons, threatening to shoot those who resist.
