Red Faction: Guerrilla is the third game in the Red Faction series developed by Volition Inc. and published by THQ Inc. Red Faction: Guerrilla has been in development for over 4 years as of September 2008.

Plot

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a 3rd person, open-world action shooter set on Mars, 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction (around the year 2208). Players take the role of an insurgent fighter named Alec Mason with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force (EDF - allies in the first Red Faction). Throughout their fight for freedom, players carve their own path, wreaking havoc across the vast, open-world environment of Mars, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos to the Earth-like region known as Oasis.

Red Faction: Guerrilla boxart

Utilizing improvised weapons, explosives and re-purposed mining equipment and vehicles, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to tear through fully destructible environments in an unforgiving Martian landscape swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire. Red Faction: Guerrilla also features a robust multiplayer component, including several modes focused on destruction-based gameplay.

Rick White revealed that most of the game will take place on the terraformed surface of Mars, with some parts in other places such as the Ultor labs to pay homage to the first Red Faction. Not much else is known of the game’s plot.

Multiplayer

Red Faction: Guerrilla will feature online multiplayer as Red Faction(PC) did. There is no cross-platform multiplayer, so gamers are limited to playing versus others on the same platform.

Area

Red Faction: Guerrilla takes place on a section of Mars called Tharsis. Tharsis is made up of 6 sectors.

Platforms

Red Faction: Guerrilla will be released in June 2009 on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Cross-platform multiplayer will not be available. The PC version of Red Faction: Guerrilla will be available for purchase through Valve's Steam content distribution system[1], as well as via retail.
