In-Game Editor
In-Game Editor is a Red Faction server tool released by TwT in February 2008. In-Game Editor expands on the previous Endgame Editor release, offering all functions as its predecessor with the additions of a few more game settings, such as max caps and kills.
Usage
After the game server is lauched, the server admin launches the ige.exe application. When "Connect to Server" is clicked, IGE will scan for the game server. The following servers are supported:
- Listen server (all languages)
- English dedicated server
- German dedicated server
- French dedicated server
- Pure Faction listen server (if finished)
Once attached to the server, IGE loads the settings from the server and places them on screen with the option for modification.
Method of operation
In-Game Editor edits the server process's memory. Contrary to popular belief, IGE does not connect through the UDP protocol. All settings are completely memory-based.
Fair use
IGE offers no functions that would provide an advantage to any specific team in a competitive situation.
RCON commands
IGE supports advanced RCON commands. These commands are activated by issuing the command at the player's console, followed by a password unique to IGE. Players who wish to use the special IGE RCON commands need to know the password set in the IGE configuration, but they do not need to know the server's actual RCON password.
