Tutorial: Basic Skyboxes Prepared by Volition. |
To create a simple sky box, follow these steps:
- create a large square air brush (about 20 meters high with a width and depth of 120 meters). Make sure it is far of to the side and away from your actual level to give you room.
- Apply cloud textures to all the walls. Scale them to a good size.
- Put a "Room Effect" object in the air brush and set it’s "Effect Type" property to "Sky Room" in the pulldown. (note: hit CTRL+P on the selected object to bring up it’s properties dialog).
- In Texture Mode, select the faces and check the "Full Bright" flag in the properties window. (note: hit CTRL+P on the selected faces to bring up it’s properties dialog).
- In Texture Mode, select the faces in your level that you want to show sky and check off the "Show Sky" flag in the properties window. (note: hit CTRL+P on the selected faces to bring up it’s properties dialog).
- Rebuild and light your level, then run it.
