The SMG is really good at the close range, slightly more stealthy approach, to dealing with enemies. Its higher fire rate than your standard pistols makes it excellent for dealing quick onslaughts to multiple units at once, excellent for avoiding large retaliation.

The CSMG-19 Silenced Machine Gun is a weapon in Red Faction II.

Description

The fully automatic silenced machine gun is a good weapon to equip if you prefer not to be heard. Silent and swift, this weapon is more accurate than the Machine Pistols, but not quite as powerful. It can penetrate most body-armour and is most effective at close ranges. This weapon is a favourite of tactical covert specialists, including Tangier.

The SMG is a fairly good early to mid game weapon. It is really good for a close range, slightly more stealthy approach, to dealing with enemies.
