{{FAQ|question|Intermittent game crashes|If you're running the GoG version, try updating your game or use GoG Galaxy. Kaiko has indicated that some GoG users running older versions may experience crashes.<br>Otherwise, the best way to get help with these kinds of issues is to join [https://discord.gg/fRrUzuV the Red Faction Community Discord] and describe the issue you're facing.}}
{{FAQ|question|Frequent lag while playing multiplayer|Due to the game's multiplayer using a peer-to-peer networking model, and the lack of traditional dedicated servers, the "server" is hosted by one of the players in a game. Because of this, gameplay will likely be laggy at times, depending on the performance and network connection of the player chosen as the host.
* If you're using the [https://github.com/CamoRF/Red-Faction-Guerrilla-Terraform-Patch Terraform Patch], the player who starts the custom game lobby will always remain the host. This mitigates the majority of the lag if the lobby host has good connection and performance as host migration as been completely removed in the patch. }}

{{FAQ|question|Terrain vanishes in Badlands or harpoons get stuck when fired from turrets|In Red Faction: Guerrilla (both the Steam Edition and the Re-Mars-tered version), when the framerate exceeds 120FPS for too long, a rendering glitch that causes most of the terrain to vanish can occur in the Badlands. Harpoons fired from Marauder turrets will also frequently get stuck in the turret at framerates exceeding 120FPS.
Capping the framerate at 120FPS is the only known solution if you encounter this issue, and may also prevent other subtle bugs/glitches from occurring. You can cap your framerate many different ways, including:
* Using Rivatuner Statistics Server to enforce a 120FPS limit
* Setting the game's refresh rate to 120Hz, then enabling VSync (if you have a monitor that supports 120Hz or higher; introduces input lag)
* Using Radeon Chill and setting both "Min FPS" and "Max FPS" to 120 (if you have an AMD GPU)
* Using Framerate Target Control to enforce a 120FPS limit (if you have an AMD GPU; may introduce input lag)
* Using Nvidia Control Panel to set "Max Frame Rate" to 120 (if you have an Nvidia GPU) }}

{{FAQ|question|Does anyone still play multiplayer?|While both Steam Edition and Re-Mars-tered multiplayer isn't especially active, it does have players. Unfortunately, due to the playlist system and peer-to-peer networking model, it's often difficult to find other players to play with.
* The most reliable method of finding other RF:G or RF:GR players to play with is to join [https://discord.gg/fRrUzuV the Red Faction Community Discord] and use the ''#rfg-matchmaking'' channel to attempt to organize games. The Discord supports matchmaking across all platforms on which RF:G and RF:GR were released. }}

{{FAQ|question|Can I play the game in first person?|Not natively, but two separate methods of playing in first person have been developed by the community. They're listed below, and we encourage you to join the [https://discord.gg/factionfiles FactionFiles Community Discord] if you have any further questions or would like some assistance configuring these mods.

* '''RSL script loader''', developed by '''Moneyl''' (Re-Mars-tered only):<br>[https://rsl.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Installation.html Installation guide for RSL]

* '''RFG 1st Person mod''', developed by '''MartianMadman''' (Re-Mars-tered and Steam Edition):<br>[https://github.com/MartianMadman/RFG_1stPerson Github page] }}

{{FAQ|question|Can I make custom maps/levels for Red Faction: Guerrilla?|Unfortunately, the RF:G level editor ([[CLOE]]) was never released to the public.
* No method currently exists for the community to create custom maps/levels for the game, however community member moneyl has developed a tool to view and explore the game world. You can read more about the tool here:

{{FAQ|question|Where can I find Red Faction: Guerrilla mods?|[https://factionfiles.com FactionFiles.com] is the most extensive source of community-made mods and tools for Red Faction: Guerrilla.

While we try to maintain the most up-to-date list of community-made content at FactionFiles.com, you may also find mods on other sites, such as [https://www.nexusmods.com/redfactionguerilla/mods/ Nexus Mods].}}

{{FAQ|question|Can I import my save game file from Steam Edition to Re-Mars-tered?|Yes! When starting the game for the first time, you will be asked if you wish to import any Steam Edition save game files. Alternatively, you can access this feature under Options -> Extras -> Import save data.

'''Important''': The "Import Save Data" option will only appear when the game found save data from the Steam Edition in its expected directory. By default, this is <code>C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<Your Steam ID>\20500\remote</code> }}

{{FAQ|question|How can I install and use Red Faction: Guerrilla mods?|'''NOTE:''' We've tried to standardize the distribution format of mods on [https://factionfiles.com FactionFiles.com] to the greatest extent possible, and this guide assumes you're installing mods from there. These steps may not work for you if you obtained a mod from another source. That being said, RF:G has no built-in mod support to speak of, so it's very difficult to detail a consistent and reliable method of installation for them. If you run into issues using a mod or have questions, join the [https://discord.gg/fRrUzuV Red Faction Community Discord] for assistance.

'''Installing Standalone Mods'''
* '''NOTE:''' As indicated above, RF:G has no built-in mod support whatsoever. The Mod Manager was developed to help with this, but Standalone Mods (ie. mods that don't use the mod manager) can vary greatly in format. As such, this guide should be seen as just a set of general guidelines. If you run into issues using a mod or have questions, it's best to join the [https://discord.gg/fRrUzuV Red Faction Community Discord] for some assistance.
* '''IMPORTANT:''' Before installing any Standalone Mods that require overwriting core game files (as most do), it is ''highly'' recommended that you save a backup copy of any affected files.
* Extract the files included in the standalone mod download to your game data directory and overwrite any existing files (Normally this will be '''C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Faction Guerrilla\build\pc\cache''' for Steam Edition, and '''C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Faction Guerrilla Re-MARS-tered\data''' for Re-Mars-tered)

'''Installing Mod Manager Mods'''
* Download and install the RF:G Mod Manager you need:
** [https://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=file&id=517005 Download Mod Manager for Steam Edition]
** [https://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=file&id=517772 Download Mod Manager for Re-Mars-tered]
* Extract the folder for your Mod Manager-compatible mod to '''\mods\''' under the Mod Manager directory.
* '''IMPORTANT''': Ensure you extract the folder for the mod, not the contents of the folder. .xml files (or other files) for a specific mod need to be in a subdirectory for that mod under '''\mods\''', not directly in the '''\mods\''' folder itself. }}
