Red Faction: Guerrilla is the third game in the Red Faction series developed by Volition Inc. and published by THQ Inc.
Plot
Red Faction: Guerrilla is a 3rd person, open-world action shooter set on Mars, 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction. Players take the role of an insurgent fighter named Alec Mason with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force (EDF - allies in the first Red Faction). Throughout their fight for freedom, players carve their own path, wreaking havoc across the vast, open-world environment of Mars, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos.
Utilizing improvised weapons, explosives and re-purposed mining equipment and vehicles, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to tear through fully destructible environments in an unforgiving Martian landscape swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire. Red Faction: Guerrilla also features a robust multiplayer component, including several modes focused on destruction-based gameplay.
Rick White revealed that most of the game will take place on the terraformed surface of Mars, with some parts in other places such as the Ultor labs to pay homage to the first Red Faction. Not much else is known of the game’s plot.
Platforms
Red Faction: Guerrilla will be released in the first quarter of 2009 on the Playstation 3, XBox 360 and PC. Cross-platform multiplayer will not be available.
Collector's Edition
The Red Faction: Guerrilla Collector's Edition will feature the following and is available for XBox 360 and PS3. There will not be a collector's edition for PC.
- A copy of Red Faction: Guerrilla
- A 5 inch-tall mining walker figurine made by Gentle Giant Ltd. Each poly-resin figurine is hand-painted and features real pewter hand railings
- A bonus DVD (Xbox 360) / bonus Blu-Ray disc (PS3)
