The VFX-32 Attack Airship is a pilotable air vehicle in Red Faction II.
It is driven by Shrike however the player as Alias serves as the gunner for the vehicle during the autoscroller level entitled Shrike's Wild Ride.
Shrikes Gunship
Shrike, the vehicle specialist in Molov's squad, typically commandeers a customized version of the Aesir 2.0 giving it increased firepower, speed, and durability. The fighter is also rumoured to directly interface with Nanotechnology enhanced soldiers. Not only does this make the fighter more manoeuvrable than normal, the gunner can devastate the battlefield with optical zoom and more precise control.
Properties
When paired with Shrike, Alias serves as the gunner for this craft. You will have two modes of fire: a Gatling gun and rockets. Use the Primary fire key to engage the Gatling gun. The alternate fire key will launch rockets from the rocket ports. If the throw grenade key is used to lock onto vehicles, the rockets will home in on their targets when fired. The Hud for the Gunship also displays how much health the vehicle has. When this number reaches zero, you're dead.
Cut Content
In Red Faction II's PlayStation beta version, Shrike's personal gunship was modified both mechanically and artistically, featuring a black and blue tiger textured paintwork with his name on the side of the ship in a bold green color. This is also the same model as the Military Gunship.
