The Arc Welder is one of twenty weapons available in Red Faction: Guerrilla.
Description
This weapon is an electric weapon which will be attracted to metal structures. The Arc Welder was originally a piece of mining equipment used by the miners on Mars but has been turned into a weapon for use against the Earth Defense Force.
Developed by a group of underground Red Faction researchers and engineers, the Arc Welder was designed for close-quarters combat. By super-charging a standard Arc Welder, this weapons-grade welder can electrocute soft targets and disable vehicles and other electrical equipment. The electrical charge emitted from the weapon can travel along metallic surfaces and arc between surfaces and people, and is effective against multiple targets at the same time.
Recommendation: Acquire the "smart arc" upgrade as soon as possible after unlocking the weapon. The smart Arc allows the weapon to distinguish between friendly and hostile targets, essentially making the Arc Welder one of the most effective anti-personnel weapons in the game.
Fully upgraded, you can take on even large armor-equipped convoys on foot, simply by running up to vehicles and frying their drivers.
The Arc Welder is exellent at disabling vehicles. You can even get your hands on rare, and powerful, vehicles if you get close enough.
